Somatic Pelvic Trauma Therapy in Portland

Body-Centered Healing for Trauma Held in the Pelvis

Trauma lives in the body. And the pelvis—the seat of your power, sexuality, creativity, and life force—often becomes the container for unprocessed trauma.

If you've experienced sexual trauma, medical trauma, birth trauma, or simply the accumulation of living in a female body in a patriarchal world, your pelvis may be holding stories that talk therapy alone cannot reach.

At Portland Pelvic Therapy, we offer somatic (body-based) trauma therapy that helps you release what's been held in your tissues, restore safety in your body, and reclaim your pelvic space as sacred ground.

  • Somatic therapy works directly with the body—not just talking about trauma, but helping your nervous system and tissues release the protective patterns, tension, and freeze responses that trauma creates.

    This might look like:

    • Gentle hands-on work to release held tension

    • Nervous system regulation and grounding

    • Restoring a sense of safety and agency in your body

    • Working with breath, sensation, and interoception

    • Titrated (gradual, safe) work with the pelvic floor

    • Integration of body, mind, and spirit

    • Sexual assault or abuse

    • Medical trauma (invasive procedures, difficult births, surgeries)

    • Birth trauma (yours or your children's)

    • Developmental trauma (adverse childhood experiences)

    • Collective trauma (living in a body that has been objectified, violated, or dismissed)

    • Trauma held across generations (lineage and ancestral wounds)

  • Trauma-Informed Touch: All touch is consented to, explained, and at your pace. Your "no" is always honored.

Nervous System First: We teach your nervous system to feel safe before we address the pelvic floor.

Somatic Experiencing: Working with what your body holds, not forcing release.

Visceral and Fascial Work: Releasing restrictions that hold trauma patterns.

Akashic Work (If Desired): For soul-level or lineage trauma that runs deeper than this lifetime. Learn more →

Integration: Helping you stay resourced and grounded as you heal.

  • Trauma work is not linear. We move at your body's pace, with your full agency.

Some sessions may be quiet and gentle. Others may bring up emotion or sensation. All of it is welcome and held with deep respect.

Treatment length varies—some find resolution in a few months, others work with me over a year or more.
